Welcome to Peter Tyson’s first Denon product blog. What kept us? Good question; how very remiss of us to miss out this Centurian of AV.
Yep, you read that right. Denon’s debut product – Japan’s very first ‘phonograph’ - launched in 1910. Since then, Denon has evolved into a global household name in audio and home cinema (we bet you know at least one person with a Denon midi-system!) establishing its pedigree with a catalogue of significant world firsts:
- 1945 - first recording of Emperor Hirohito
- 1972 - first practical PCM digital recorder
- 2014 - first AV receiver to support Dolby Atmos
- 2018 - first 13.2 channel AVR
- 2020 - first 8k AVR

A-Series Rules the Roost
The world’s first 8k receivers were Denon X-Series. But in the high-paced tech of AV, X-Series has been surpassed. A-Series rules the roost now, representing the ultimate in Denon performance.
And that’s why we’re here today, to introduce:
A-Series AVC-A10H 13.4 Channel, 150W, 8K, AV Receiver
Only the second AVR to achieve revered A-Series status, Denon’s A10H AV provides everything you need for performance home cinema, interactive gaming, music and any other AV entertainment. It’s a slightly scaled-down version of Denon’s flagship A1H, driving a mere 13 speakers (against 15), delivering 150W of power to each (against 210W) as well as up to 4 independent subwoofers. Phew!
It’s a chunky £3999, which puts it at the higher end of the AVR spectrum, but it’s £2,000 less than the A1H and performance-wise, there is little difference. Both A-Series receivers use the highest-grade components, including new ESS DAC array and upgraded OFC (oxygen-free copper) wound transformer. Both are crafted in-house at the famous Shirakawa Audio Works in Japan, to exacting standards and the highest tolerances, and of course hand-tuned by the Sound Master himself, Shinichi Yamauchi.
If you’re in the market for a complete AV hub with a no-compromise feature set and excellent audio quality, A10H could be just the ticket.
