Peter Tyson Launches Hi-Fi Brand ‘Fell Audio’

For almost 50 years Peter Tyson has made a name for itself as a family-owned, Cumbria-based company dealing in quality TV, hi-fi, home cinema and appliances.

Now, after years of development Peter Tyson is bringing its own Cumbria inspired brand of home stereo to market.

Introducing Fell Audio - made in Britain and inspired by the lakes and mountains of the Cumbrian landscape.

Fell Audio is set to shake up the hi-fi industry by taking on some of the world’s largest manufacturing heavyweights.

Project design lead at Fell Audio Luke Tyson says: “Fell Audio is truly a passion project for us. After selling stereo systems through our stores for decades, it became clear that great-sounding hi-fi at an affordable price is no longer being made here in the UK. We wanted to change that and offer people something British-built to start their hi-fi journey with. We’re so proud of the results.”

Fell Audio are launching the brand with a powerful 89-watt stereo amplifier Fell Amp and a matching premium CD player Fell Disc. A streamer unit will follow in early 2025. The units have a retro-modern aesthetic, inspired by the ‘golden era’ vintage hi-fi of the 1970s, but with modern touches, clean lines and capacitive-touch front panels.

Fell Amp.

The Fell Amp redefines what’s possible at entry level and features easy plug and play connectivity for turntables, Bluetooth convenience for music streaming, plus headphone outputs for late-night and personal listening.

The Fell Amp also offers a level of specification, componentry and build usually found in products costing several times more. An 89-watt state-of-the-art Class D design, the Fell Amp provides a built-in MM phono stage for seamless plug-and-play turntable connectivity, a premium ESS Sabre DAC with two digital inputs for enhanced sound from connected devices, plus aptX HD Bluetooth for streaming.

Audiophile touches include a high-quality ESS Sabre ES9018K2M DAC, normally found in products costing much more, with advanced digital technologies including 32-bit HyperStream architecture and a Time Domain Jitter Eliminator, to deliver ultra-low noise and high dynamic range.

Fell Disc.

The perfect partner for your Fell Amp or to pair with your current amp, it sets new standards for budget-friendly CD performance.

Packed with convenient features, including a fuss-free slot-loading mechanism, the Fell Disc offers track and album repeat, random play, optional CD information display, plus a user-friendly remote.

Flexible connectivity options include optical and coaxial digital outputs for seamless integration with a wide range of audio systems, including external DACs to future-proof performance into the future.

Central to the Fell Disc is a premium ESS ES9018 DAC offering the highest sound quality for a budget disc player with up to 96 kHz/24-bit audio.

Rediscover your entire CD collection the Fell Disc is compatible with CD, CD-R and CD-RW.

Sustainability

Fell Audio has worked closely with their manufacturing partners to produce something that is modern, great sounding, long lasting and affordable. Importantly the products and packaging have been designed with sustainability in mind.

Fell Audio doesn’t just represent the lakes and mountains of the natural world, it seeks to protect them. Each product is built with repairability and sustainability in mind. Everything about the packaging is either made from recycled material, or can be recycled again, even the ink is earth friendly.

Most components are sourced from the UK to reduce air miles, and the products have been designed to be repairable in the unlikely event a fix is needed.

Iconic Design

Fell Audio’s retro-modern aesthetic is inspired by the ‘golden era’ vintage hi-fi of the 1970s, but with modern touches, clean lines and captive-touch front panels. Beneath the lid, the advanced designs are built with the modern music lover in mind, with a natural, authentic sound and a solid build, just like the fells themselves.

Fell Audio ushers in a new chapter in the Peter Tyson story, the business's passion for audio and its heritage as a Cumbria based UK retailer.

Anyone across the UK can now own a piece of unique Carlisle born and British made hi-fi and have a hint of the grand old fells of the Lake District in their home when listening to their favourite music.
